SINGULAR

This
is used about a thing or a person that is close to us.


Example:
- I like this car.
- This is Nicole.

That is used about a thing or a person that is not close to us.

Example:
- Do you want to buy that car?
- That is my sister over there.


PLURAL

These is used about things or persons that are close to us.

Example:
- Do you like these colors?
- These carpets are beautiful.

Those is used about things or persons that are not close to us.

Example:
- I don't like those shoes.
- Do you want to talk with those girls?
